Chair of the Sub Committee on editing quarterly publication of“Large Dams”(since 2021)
He has been interested in the hydraulics of dams, reservoirs and the design of hydraulic structures (spillways, gates, sediment flushing facilities, water quality control facilities and so on).
He spent the most of his carriers as a research engineer of Public Works Research Institute of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism from 1974 to 2003. PWRI of MLIT was transformed into “PWRI of Incorporated Administrative Agency ” in April 2001. He supported to many dam projects as the Director of Dam Department of PWRI from 2000 to 2003.
After that, he belonged to Japan Dam Engineering Center (JDEC) from 2003 to 2012. JDEC conducts consulting works in the area of survey, design, construction and maintenance of dams. The clients comprise MLIT, local governments, electric power companies and private dam owners. He supervises safety management of dams, operation of reservoirs and hydraulic design of spillways and so on as the Head of Dam Engineering Research Institute or a vice president of JDEC.
